2023 Through the (B)Rask Lens: A Recap

End of year is a great time for reminiscing, wouldn’t you agree? 2023 has been a vertigo of events and achievements for the team. As Barbenheimer and Pedro Pascal were taking over the planet, the folks at Brask and Rask AI were busy scripting their own saga of success. So let's look back at the events that defined 2023 for the team and for our ever-growing community.

We worked together to break language barriers 

Let’s start off with some juicy stats!

• 1 million users now rely on Rask AI for video translation and dubbing – as many as the entire population of Oslo!
• If we launched a broadcast out of all the content translated by our users, it would last  959 days
• By now, Rask AI’s translation portfolio includes 130+ languages
• We added 10+ new awesome features, including video and audio transcriptions, transcript editing, subtitling, content repurposing, text-to-speech, VoiceClone, and Lip-Sync Multi-Speaker
• Our users saved $10 mln by streamlining their localization workflows with AI
• We planted 300+ trees through our environmental initiative with ESA Digital

• Reached $50K MRR in just 90 days post-launch, surpassing industry standards and placing in the top 5% of startups for early revenue growth

We planted the flag

Together, we've reached incredible milestones this year. Remember when we launched the Universal Translator, putting cutting-edge translation technology right in your hands even before the tech giants like Google? And then there's our Lip-Sync Multi-Speaker feature – another first-of-its-kind tool you got to experience before anyone else. Here's to all the firsts we've shared and to many more to come!

As we approach the final days of this year, we are thrilled to share another incredible milestone achieved by the Rask AI team – reaching $5M ARR in just 9 months!

We learned from our mistakes

This year, we've had our share of learning moments. Remember the Spanish tweet that launched us into the stratospehere? That was a real eye-opener for us. Our servers just couldn't keep up with the crazy demand, and video translations took way longer than expected. In the midst of the scramble, we gained valuable insights. We've since beefed up our servers and fine-tuned our systems, ensuring we're primed for any future surges. It was a tough but essential lesson, but now, we're fully equipped to manage whatever comes our way, effortlessly.

We promoted responsible AI

We've been actively championing the cause of responsible AI and raising awareness about its benefits. Here's a snapshot of our key initiatives:

• We're proud to announce our acceptance into the Content Authenticity Initiative, a significant step in our commitment to promoting authenticity and transparency in digital content.
• We've also joined the ranks of C2PA, aligning ourselves with the forefront of digital content provenance and authenticity standards.
• Our CEO and founder, Maria Chmir, has been honored to be included in the prestigious Women in AI Ethics™ (WAIE) list. This global initiative spotlights women's contributions to AI ethics, and Maria's inclusion is a testament to her impact in this field.

We've been on the move, attending a series of influential conferences including DevGAMM, DigitalDay2023, GameDev Cyprus, and SlatorCon Zurich. These events were not just about learning and networking; they were platforms for us to spread the word about responsible AI and its potential in transforming businesses.

We took over screens and pages around the world

This year, Rask AI hasn't just been part of the conversation - we've been leading it, grabbing headlines and features across some of the world's most prestigious media outlets, including CNBC, Bloomberg, Washington Post, Esquire, El País, La Vanguardia, Hackernoon, and EdTechDigest.

In an incredibly cool turn of events, our collaboration with BMW Group hit the airwaves, showcasing how we can digitally age and de-age people using AI. Brask Doubles agency served as the AI content partner responsible for the latest advertising campaign for BMW Israel!

This year, Rask AI really lit up the TV scene. We got a shoutout on national TV in Argentina thanks to Jason Mayne, who featured us on the TELENOCHE ¡EN VIVO! program. But wait, there's more! On France's M6 channel, we teamed up with the super talented Quebecois artist, David Corriveau, to create a captivating blend of AI and human talent for ‘La France a un Incroyable Talent’.  Leveraging our technology, we crafted the digital doubles of the judges and successfully advanced to the grand final!

We met in person

This year marked a first for us at Rask AI – our entire team met up in person in Turkey, stepping out of our digital comfort zone and into a world of face-to-face collaboration. Energized and more connected than ever, we left the meetup buzzing with excitement for the bold and innovative plans we have in store for 2024!

And we’re just getting started!
